
Leyton Lea Lodge was consecrated on 8th January 1951 at Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street and afterwards dined at the Connaught Rooms. The Consecrating officer that day was R.W. Bro Sydney White Grand Secretary assisted by 5 other officers. There were 10 founders and First Officers together with 65 visitors.
The first regular meeting was held at the Criterion Restaurant, Piccadilly on 5th April 1951 at which 6 Brethren joined the Lodge and four candidates were initiated. 22 members and 35 visitors, subscriptions were £5 guineas, visitors dining was £1 guinea.
The Lodge has had 7 different meeting places since 1950. Criterion Restaurant 1950-1954, Monico Café 1955-1957, Café Royal 1958-1970, The Great Eastern Hotel 1971-1997, Nan’s Pantry 1998-2003, Clerkenwell 2004-2008 and Freemason Hall 2009- present.
There have been 9 different secretaries, initiated over 180 Candidates, over 70 Worshipful Masters and 1 Grand Officer W.Bro Percy Baker who looks down upon us from the Great Lodge above.
In 2019 Leyton Lea Lodge became a Special Interest Lodge (SIL) The Building Services Lodge, majority of its members coming from an MEP and Construction background.
